Cozy in for a funky, musical friendship turned dreamy wind in your hair ceremony on the sunny beaches of San Juan, Puerto Rico.

First, we should go back to where it began. Our bride, Elektra, was once in a funk band. Our groom, Mike, owned a recording studio in Metro Detroit. One evening Elektra and her band booked a demo recording session at Mike’s studio.

Often times when I tell people what I do for a living their eyes light up with curiosity. “So you work for a photography company?”, they ask. To which I reply, “Actually, I AM the photography company.”

It was a lovely summer afternoon when I met Sarah + Jonathan. We sat outside a coffee shop and chatted about flowers and our mutual love for the freshwater coast of Lake Michigan. Sarah’s eyes sparkled a little when she began telling me all about their vision to plan a winter wedding out in Grand Haven to honor Jonathan’s Mother. A cozy, snowy celebration in the part of Michigan where they truly fell in love.

Oh how fate works in funny ways… like how a person you casually walk by in the hallways of your high school, could also be the very person you walk down the isle to on your wedding day. When I first met Cassie + Brian they had this vibrant, loving energy about them. I could tell right away their wedding was going to be mushy and adorable.

This wedding tale begins with two distant, middle school friends who were reunited by a pinch of fate.

After a few weather misfortunes, Erika, Kevin and I were redeemed by the most beautiful November day for our fall engagement photoshoot. The rain had passed and the sun was shining sweetly through the autumn leaves. It. Was. Marvelous.

This love story began with an adorable kitty named Gizmo. Sweet, fluffy Gizmo lured Jane into Sean’s arms one sunny day at Eastern Michigan University. The two joined in a friendly game of cat and mouse (pun definitely intended), and fell marvelously in love with each other.
