Elektra + Mike | A Beachside Destination Wedding In Puerto Rico

Cozy in for a funky, musical friendship turned dreamy wind in your hair ceremony on the sunny beaches of San Juan, Puerto Rico.

First, we should go back to where it began. Our bride, Elektra, was once in a funk band. Our groom, Mike, owned a recording studio in Metro Detroit. One evening Elektra and her band booked a demo recording session at Mike’s studio. Little did Elektra know, one of Mike’s long time clients was secretly playing cupid and had been talking Elektra up to Mike for weeks! Luckily for him these two instantly hit it off and they decided to go for a beer together after the session. Sparks were certainly flying, but our bride and groom kept it classy and continued as friends until their first kiss on New Years Eve over 3 months later!

After the clock struck midnight, the romance officially began. Elektra and Mike fell madly in love over the following years, and Mike began to plan the perfect proposal. He decided to throw a 40th birthday party and use it as a disguise to get everyone together. Friends and family all gathered and were ushered outside to sing happy birthday, but instead of a cake, they found Mike on one knee! Surprise!

Elektra and Mike knew they wanted to get married on the beach and they began to plan a dreamy destination wedding. After months of planning, gathering a guest list, and booking travel accommodations… off we went to the beautiful island of Puerto Rico! We spent a few days soaking up the sun and playing in the waves… then the evening before the wedding sharing cocktails and speeches, and enjoying the latino life before the big day!

Come wedding day the sun was shining, the birds were singing, and the anticipation was electric! The girls and boys primped separately in preparation for our first look at The Dreamcatcher Hotel. We set ourselves up for an awesome reveal which absolutely made my eyes water, took a trip to a local park for some bridal party photos, and later made our way back to the beach for the ceremony!

Elektra + Mike… I can’t thank you enough for inviting us to such a heartfelt and intimate celebration. All your family and friends welcomed me with such open arms which made the experience even more special. I sincerely hope you love your photos and continue to enjoy them throughout the years of your marriage!
