Leah + Jorge | A Destination Wedding In Downtown Grand Rapids
When you study business they tell you, "Build a brand that comes alive with your vision. Only then will you appeal to clients that view the world the same way you do."
For months I poured my soul into Light Garden, exploring my style and defining an authentic brand. It's an overwhelming process to say the least! Some days I felt like a total #girlboss, while other days I filled with doubt.
Then one day, I spoke with Leah on the phone about her wedding photography. Talking to her felt like all my doubt suddenly washed away in a summer rain. She described her casual, summery wedding in Grand Rapids, MI. A day decorated with lush greenery, white dahlias and natural accents. It was this very moment that I finally realized - if you build it, them will come.
I was smitten to work with Leah + Jorge. Two beautiful souls destined to be together. These two both attended Western Michigan University. In 2012 they lived in neighboring apartments and once they crossed paths - it was history folks! Time only brought them closer together until one very special beach stroll in North Carolina, Jorge took a knee and asked Leah to marry him.
Come wedding weekend, good vibes were already pouring in! Since I was traveling from Detroit, Leah + Jorge invited me to rehearsal dinner to nom some BBQ and meet the fam. It's always such a treat for me to blend with the family and friends prior to the wedding. I find it makes the photography process way more fun!
Saturday began with sunny skies and smiling faces! I met Leah and her girls at her sister Justine's house in Grand Rapids. We dolled up and had some fun with Dre the pup! I later met the boys in their suite in the heart of downtown. We made our way to the Basilica of St. Adalbert for a breathtaking ceremony, and the day continued without a hitch! The bridal party and I hit the trolly for our photo adventure! These. photos. are. amaze. I'm dying over here! We played around in the garden of Aquinas, and visited the Art Prize winning mural by Tracy Van Duinen. After the photo fun we rolled into the Loft at Luna for the reception. Leah + Jorge set up a margarita stand to welcome everyone to the reception! Major! Their loft was decorated with botanic elements, gold accents, and an adorable Polaroid guestbook! Did I mention this was my dream wedding yet? A beautiful day turned into an even more beautiful night dancing under the twinkly lights and a candy bar!
Leah and Jorge, you two are lovely souls. It was an absolute privilege to photograph your wedding. A simple thank you is hardly enough to express my gratitude! I appreciate everything you and your families did for me. I hope that your wedding photos are everything you envisioned and more! Wishing you a lifetime of laugher together! Cheers!
