How To Shake Your Photoshoot Jitters

Let’s talk about how to shake those pre-engagement shoot jitters…

Special shout-out to Paige & Sean for being SO fun to work with, and a perfect example for this blog!

Most of us feel pretty nervous about getting in front of the camera. Myself included! My knees lock up and I start thinking way too much about my hands.

So today I have three tried and true techniques you can use to loosen up for the camera:

  • If there’s anything I’ve learned over the years about photography and posing… it’s to not take yourself too seriously! This is just for fun after all, so keep that top of mind! Skip, piggy-back, and let yourself have a laugh.

  • Plan ahead and stop for a cocktail before the shoot. A nice glass of Pino Noir always does the trick for me! Rock out to your favorite hype song after that too! Get those vibes UP!

  • Approach your photoshoot like you would a yoga class. You show up on your mat ready to follow your yoga instructor, right? It’s the same for your photoshoot. I’m your “photo instructor” and will be there to guide you through the whole thing. We’ll begin with a series of movement poses that are an easy warm up, and after I’ll work us into our next “flow”. Really pushing the yoga analogy here. You feel me?

Any of my past clients care to share their pre-photoshoot rituals? Drop a line in the comments!
