Tips For Photographing Your Wedding Details
Details, details! I just love the juicy details! When planning a wedding you put so much time into the little things like your sage and mauve color palette, your bohemian invitation suite, your birch and floral alter decor, the embroidered handkerchief you gift your father, the gold candlesticks in your centerpieces that your grandparents used at their wedding… it’s all these little personalizations that make your wedding uniquely you. Sadly, it’s the details that so often they get lost in the whirlwind that is a wedding day.
Give your details the attention they deserve! When I meet with our Light Garden couples to map out our photo timeline, we allot time for styling all the little personalizations beginning with the bride and groom’s wedding day accessories. Here’s a quick list of what I’m talking about because you know I love organization!
Details For The Bride:
wedding bands + engagement ring
wedding invitation suite
bouquet
wedding dress
wedding shoes
veil or flower crown
jewelry
Details For The Groom:
suit + tie
cuff links
wedding day watch
boutonniere
dress shoes
personalized socks
Your shoe box is a great place to stash most of these accessories, and when I arrive in the morning I’ll grab that shoebox, find some beautiful window light, and get to work!
As far as ceremony and reception details are concerned, I’ve found it’s best to photograph those all set up. So we’ll carve out a specific time during the day to do that as well. Myself or my second photographer will arrive to the ceremony site a few moments before guests for photos, and later we’ll do the same in the reception space so we can photograph that finished aesthetic you’ve worked so hard to put together!
Ceremony Details:
the alter
welcome signage
asile decor
programs
unity items
Reception Details:
seating chart
tablescapes + centerpieces
place settings + dinner menu
head table decor
cake + cake topper
party favors
dessert bar
signature cocktail
So there we have it friends. The devil really is in the details, and getting great photographs of your hard work is something you will not regret.
Thank you so much for reading, and for being a part of our Light Garden community. Cheers and happy planning!
